Canvas of one of the deans of the village of Pampang

This painting introduces you to the Kenyan Dayak village of Pampang, located 20 km north of Samarinda, Indonesia. This village is a Dayak cultural park, where about thirty families from the Kenyan ethnic group, originally from the highlands of Apokayan, live. 

You admire the portrait of one of the village elders, named Amaï, who poses proudly in the longhouse, the traditional Dayak house. The longhouse is decorated with colorful murals, which depict symbolic motifs related to Dayak culture and cosmology. Among these motifs, you notice the dragon, which symbolizes power and protection. 

This canvas invites you on a journey to the heart of Dayak culture, which combines tradition and modernity, and which testifies to a rich artistic and spiritual heritage.

Features :

• We use responsibly sourced wood for the tension rods, primarily FSC certified wood, to manufacture our canvas prints, ensuring a long lasting, high quality product.
• The fine canvas has a wooden tension bar about 4 cm thick. Canvases come with hanging hardware for easy installation.
• We use coated fabric, a blend of cotton and polyester, for our canvas backing. The weight of the canvas is approximately 300-350 gsm and its thickness 350-400 microns, resulting in a robust and durable product.
• To avoid damage in transit, we ship our canvas prints in protective packaging and sturdy cartons.
